Fluid aspiration systems
Fluid aspiration systems are complete benchtop stations for removing spent media, supernatant and other liquids. Each combines an oil-free vacuum pump with a collection receiver, liquid trap, regulator and gauge, so the pump is protected without assembling the parts yourself.
Both systems are wired for 115V, 60Hz. Check this suits your site before ordering.
Which system do I need?+
Both systems include the same receiver, trap, regulator, gauge and filter. The choice comes down to how fast you need to draw and how deep a vacuum the work requires.
- Wob-L 2515 System1.2 CFM and 70 Torr. The faster of the two, for higher throughput or several vessels in a session.
- Wob-L 2511 System0.39 CFM and 219 Torr. The lower-cost option for routine, lower-volume aspiration.
What's included+
Each system arrives as a working station rather than a bare pump.
- Liquid trapPrevents aspirated fluid being drawn into the pump.
- Automatic flow stopCuts flow when the 1.2 litre receiver is full.
- Vacuum regulatorAdjusts the vacuum level to suit the task.
- Dial vacuum gaugeContinuous monitoring of the vacuum level.
- In-line hydrophobic filterAdditional protection before the pump.
- Oil-free piston pumpQuiet Wob-L technology, with no oil to change.
- Portable benchtop unitLightweight, wired for 115V 60Hz.
Aspirated liquid collects in the receiver and never reaches the pump, so the same unit can run through a session without attention beyond emptying the receiver.

FAQs+
What is a fluid aspiration system?
It is a complete benchtop station for removing liquid from culture vessels and containers. A vacuum pump draws the liquid into a collection receiver, while a trap and filter keep it from reaching the pump.
What is the difference between the Wob-L 2515 and 2511 systems?
Both include the same receiver, trap, regulator, gauge and filter. The 2515 draws 1.2 CFM to an ultimate vacuum of 70 Torr, while the 2511 draws 0.39 CFM to 219 Torr, so the 2515 is the faster system and reaches the deeper vacuum.
How is the pump protected from aspirated liquid?
In three ways: a liquid trap at the inlet, an automatic flow stop when the 1.2 litre receiver is full, and an in-line hydrophobic filter before the pump.
Are Welch fluid aspiration systems oil-free?
Yes. Both use Wob-L oil-free piston pumps, so there is no oil to change and no oil mist in the exhaust.
How large is the collection receiver?
1.2 litres, with an automatic flow stop that cuts flow when the receiver is full.
Can the vacuum level be adjusted?
Yes. Both systems include a vacuum regulator and a dial gauge, so the vacuum can be set to suit the task and monitored continuously.
What power supply do the systems need?
Both are wired for 115V, 60Hz.
